Chax hangs in there
At one time, Chax was one of the most popular Mac freeware apps around, because of its ability to add tabbed chatting to iChat. Then Leopard came along, and Apple had the tabs built in.
So has Chax gone away? Not at all — in fact the newly released version 2.2 adds a slew of features that should satisfy even the most ardent chatter. Now you can send a picture from your camera as an inline image, refer to messages from a previous conversation in new chat windows, and use multitouch swipe gestures to switch tabs.
Yes, that’s right, multitouch — take that, Apple!
By the way, the developer of Chax also has freeware app called Warp, which lets you switch between Spaces by using your mouse instead of the keyboard.
