Et tu, Senuti?

In some ways it’s good that Mac developers are converting their freeware to shareware. It shows that OS X is a healthy platform with enough money around to support their efforts. The latest to go that route is Senuti, a program used to transfer music from your iPod to your Mac. (That’s iTunes spelled backward — get it?) Best of luck, Senuti, but at $18 you can no longer be in the thriftmac collection.

  1. I wonder if older versions will still work… I loves me some senuti!

  2. While I am all for paying for a piece of software if its functionality justifies it, I am not impressed with the way Fadingred changed their (previously free GPL open source licensed) software licensing scheme. Especially annoying is the fact that the automatic update feature of Senuti basically took what people had been using for years freely under the GPL (see a screenshot here ) and “updated” it to the newer, non-GPL version, rewriting the license at the same time. Seems like operating in bad faith to me.
