Get CrossOver for free
Things are getting a little weird at CodeWeavers, but the upshot is that you can get a copy of CrossOver for free on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The Great American Lame Duck Presidential Challenge takes a satirical swipe at U.S. politics by setting certain goals for the Bush administration, such as the price of gasoline falling to a certain level. With that goal having been met, CodeWeavers is responding with a giveaway.
CrossOver allows you to run certain Windows programs on your Mac without having to actually install Windows as you would with Boot Camp or Parallels. I’ve used it for testing web designs in Internet Explorer 6, and it worked well. Unfortunately, CrossOver won’t run IE7, despite receiving the most votes from users.
In any case, there are plenty of other supported programs, including some popular games. Read the press release and get ready for download.
