Name the worm, win a bug

See that worm at the bottom right of every page? That’s the thriftmac mascot. It looks awfully friendly with its invitation to download the freeware of your choice, but, sadly, it has no name. We don’t even know if it’s a he or a she.

So here’s where you come in. Thriftmac, in conjunction with XtraLean Software, is offering a free copy of Shutterbug to whoever comes up with the best name for the worm. Shutterbug is a fantastic program that allows you to create all manner of picture galleries for the web with built-in templates. But you can easily go beyond that, using WYSIWYG tools to create pretty much any kind of website you like.

The wonderful thing about this contest is that you can’t lose. Just by participating, you’ll get $10 off if you decide to go ahead and buy Shutterbug. We’ll send you a special coupon code good until Jan. 15, so be sure to include an e-mail address where we can reach you.

XtraLean, by the way, is the maker of one the best freeware apps of any kind, the image editor ImageWell, so you know Shutterbug has to be good.

The contest winner will be decided by a panel of judges consisting of thriftmac and XtraLean staff. Our decision will be totally subjective and, once its made, final. And one other proviso: the worm’s name is not Thrifty. Just so you know.

Send your entries by e-mail to mwrogers at shaw dot ca. Or use the Contact form. The contest closes on Dec. 31 at midnight Pacific time. We’ll announce the winner one week later.
