NewsFire now free
The days of paying for RSS news readers may be officially over now that developer Dave Watanabe has announced that his flagship product NewsFire is free. He explains the rationale in his blog, but it all comes down to what he calls a gut feeling. I would say it also has a lot to do with the fact that NetNewsWire — the main competition on the desktop — is also free now. And it also likely doesn’t help that many people are quite content with the free Google Reader.
