The game is the same
Does anyone remember MaciGame? Let me describe it.
It starts off as a grid of 12 rows by 20 columns filled with cute little bunnies, carrots, cabbages and mushrooms — all in wonderful, retro Japanese style. It’s made by the same people who produced GO! GO! Rabbit Train.
But that’s not all. MaciGame could be customized. Tired of bunnies? How about panty cats. Try to imagine cute kitties wearing bras and panties on their heads. Or have a look at this screenshot.
The object of the game is to find matching pictures and click on them to make them disappear. As you do so, the pictures above fall into place, creating new combinations. Ultimately your goal is to elminate them all, although I never did succeed.
MaciGame came to mind today when I checked out a new Mac freeware game called Otis. The gameplay is exactly the same, but instead of bunnies you have coloured three-dimensional blocks rendered in lovely Tiger goodness. You can even make them spin, for heaven’s sake.
As nice as the blocks are, though, they will never equal the experience of the panty cats or even the bunnies. I wish the developer every success with Otis — and I would like to thank him for his contribution to Mac freeware games — but I hope the next version allows us to replace those blocks with something a little more fun than, well, coloured blocks.
