The Tiger time machine
Leopard’s Time Machine can do lots of cool stuff, but it can’t take you back in time to when you were running Tiger. Luckily for fans of the Tiger interface, a slew of developers have provided apps that return you to yesterday’s OS. We’ve mentioned some of these in previous articles, but we thought you would appreciate a roundup. (Update: Some of these programs, obviously, do the same thing. We’ll let you decide which is best.)
DockDoctor: Allows Leopard users to switch between 3D and 2D Dock styles in horizontal mode.
TigerDock. Changes the mirrored-shelf look of the Leopard dock to something more like the Tiger dock.
LeoColorBar. Places a bar in the colour of your choice at the top of the desktop picture so that what shows through is a nice uniform colour, making the menu bar more legible.
Dockscrew: “Change the look of the Dock to the darker flat look, even when the Dock is on the bottom.”
OpaqueMenuBar: “Make the menu bar non-transparent, so you cannot see through it any more.”
Displaperture: Not only brings back rounded corners, but lets you choose just how round to make them.
Dock Enhancer: Switch between 2D and 3D for the dock. Other functionality is on the way.
Screen Corners: Bring back rounded corners to Leopard’s menu bar.
DockSwitcher: Switch the glass-shelf look for the dock on the bottom to the 2D look of the dock on the side.
CustomDock: “An AppleScript Studio application that gives you the option to either have your leopard dock be 2D or 3D.”
OldFolder: Make folders in the dock act the way they used to in the days before stacks.
Leopaque: “Disable translucency of the Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) menu bar.”
