µTorrent in beta for Mac
µTorrent is much loved among PC users — it has a lot of features, yet requires little in the way of resources. So we were curious, to say the least, when we learned that a Mac version had been released. The BitTorrent client of choice here at thriftmac is Transmission, but we’re always ready to explore new options.
Our first impression is that µTorrent is both nice to look at and easy to use. It was only a 1.4 MB download and does indeed seem to be chock full of features. As time permits, we’ll do a full blown comparison with Transmission to see which one has the edge. Of course, the big thing Transmission has over µTorrent — at least for now — is that it is out of beta. Until µTorrent reaches this status, proceed with caution.
(By the way, µ is the symbol for micro — perhaps alluding to the fact that µTorrent is small yet sophisticated.)
