wClock, meet MagiCal

Since wClock disappeared off the face of the Internet, many people have been looking for a replacement. They like the idea of having the day and date on the menu bar to look just the way they want it.

With wClock gone, a good alternative was the freeware version of MenuCalendarClock, which includes day-and-date configuration. But that’s just one of many features, and you may not be interested in the others.

Into the breach steps MagiCal. It offers literally dozens of ways to display the day and date. In fact, there are so many that it would take a far more patient person than me to count them all.

And yet … and yet the one configuration I want isn’t there: weekday, month, day. For example, today’s date would be Wednesday, January 10. I’ve submitted a feature request, so here’s hoping.

Update: Minutes after posting this article, I received an e-mail from MagiCal’s developer, Nick: “I’ll add that option in the next version.” Now that’s service!
