Web development freeware

Apple Mac HQ has a list of freeware for Mac web developers. There aren’t any surprises, although you may not be aware of MAMP and Firebug. MAMP creates an environment on your Mac where you can test content management systems that use Apache, MySQL and PHP. Firebug is a plug-in for Firefox that lets you tweak CSS, HTML and javascript.

For text editors they suggest Smultron or Text Wrangler. In the end, a good text editor may be all you need to get started — that and a good book. For that I would suggest Web Standards Solutions by Dan Cederholm.
