We've got suggestions
We opened up the freeware suggestion box recently and four items of interest popped out:
• Spirited Away
• Journler
• Instantshot!
• Applejack
We already have Journler and Applejack in the collection, but thanks for the vote of confidence. Journler is designed primarily for keeping a journal, with the added ability to post to a blog. But it can also be used for organizing all manner of notes, pictures and various other odds and ends. Applejack is one of those maintenanace utilities that does countless things to keep your Mac tuned up. Onyx is a similar program that many people swear by.
We’ve been hearing a lot about Instantshot! lately, so it wasn’t that surprising to find it in the suggestion box. Just check out these items at Digg and Lifehacker. It’s nice to have more options for screenshots, and we thought we had that covered with SnapNDrag. But Instantshot! definitely has its fans, so into the collection it goes.
And then there’s Spirited Away, which is something we’d never heard of before. Basically, it hides inactive programs after a set amount of time. The idea is that if you haven’t used them after a while, then they must be just cluttering up your workspace and are best stashed away. We’re not totally convinced this is something a lot of people will find useful, but it’s at least worth a mention. The only trouble is that the developer’s website seems to have disappeared. Fortunately, the download link at MacUpdate still works.
It’s great to have suggestions, and we appreciate them all. Please send your ideas for the freeware collection via the link in the sidebar or in a comment.
