  1. I use this program a lot, especially when I just want to concentrate on writing (which can be hard with regular word processors). For the ultimate distraction-free environment, enable “Alternate Colors” and “Full Screen” (both accessible from the View menu). Opens and saves to a decent number of formats, especially for freeware. Highly recommended!

  2. I love this app, I do all my writing work with it. The (more complex) layout finish of the texts I make in Pages and sometimes NeoOffice, but just to type in the words, or write your daily documents (actually everything where you don’t need footnotes), Bean is unbeatable. It’s like an advanced TextEdit, easy to use and snappy. I highly recommend to download this one, it is one of my favorite and most used apps. Don’t forget to customize the icon-bar with the beautiful icons, and of course all the other stuff one can change under preferences.

  3. To join the choir, Bean is an awesome app. I use Bean almost daily to soak up the synaptic spooge for a draft version of what ends up on my website. It doesn’t do everything that a full office suite does, but I think most folks will find that they don’t need to pay fat cash for mb’s worth of options they never use. So, use your wise bean to give Bean a whirl. Simple is good.
